With the Summer of 2013 basically behind us (the Sedona schools were back into session this past week), I thought that I’d share a few insights gleaned throughout the summer months:

1. It’s OK to Slow Down

For many of us, the terms slow down, chill out, relax, rest simply aren’t in our vocabularies.  This summer was a good reminder for me that they should be.  Sometimes the phrase, “Don’t put off until tomorrow what should be done today,” can lead us astray, keeping us so busy with what we mistakenly think we should be doing that we miss out on the moments that really matter.  Live LIFE to it’s fullest TODAY, even if it means getting this or that done a bit later than anticipated.  “No one ever looked back from their deathbed saying, ‘I wish I had spent more time at work.'” ~anonymous

2. Family Matters

It wasn’t so long ago that families and extended families were localized – sharing everything together.  It was rare for someone to move far, far away because transportation (covered wagons), communication (the Pony Express), & information was limited.  My, how times have changed!  My family and I live roughly 1200 miles from the rest of the Parker & France clan.  It takes a good 18-20 hours to drive and visit them.  Guess what, the drive is worth it!  Though it’s good to get out and get on your own, blazing your own trail and following God’s lead, it’s also good to remember those that have been a part of helping you to become who you are.  Bottom line: Family Matters.  Call someone from your family today and catch up!

3. I LOVE the Community of SummitLIFE!!!

Hopefully that doesn’t come as a surprise to you :-0  Today’s Gathering was a breath of fresh air, with new folks, regulars, & those that had taken great advantage of summer travel all pitching in and sharing life together…a grand total of 77.  Having everybody back together, setting up, eating, sharing, laughing, singing, learning, & tearing down honestly felt a bit like a family reunion!  And I CAN’T WAIT to see what God has in store for our SummitLIFE family as we head into the fall!!!

Goodbye, Summer.
