We’re officially settled in here in Sedona and are building relationships within the community.  I’m typing this post as I sit at a local hangout, Java Love.  This is the same hangout that I was sitting in whenever I typed THIS POST back in December of 2011.  Not much has changed regarding its popularity…it’s STILL where the locals hang.  So, considering that I’m now a local, I suppose it’s where you’ll find me on a pretty regular basis 🙂  And now, a brief recap of Week 3:

  • On Tuesday evening, July 24th, I played my first official “gig” at a place called Strombolli’s (“The Bolli Bar”) in Cottonwood, about 25 minutes or so outside of Sedona.  I was their first official “Country Night” and was held on a night that they haven’t typically had any music on…and it showed 😉  We’re workin’ on getting the word out a bit more leading up to my next booking there, which is set for Tuesday, August 14th.  See ya there!
  • Our final load of stuff from Chicago showed up with our friends, Mark and Susan Filer, on Wednesday around lunch.  We were grateful that everything made it out safely, but weren’t too excited about unloading yet another load of stuff.  We were excited, however, to see Mark and Susan and get to spend some time with them!
  • Wednesday night Michelle and I hooked up with a new friend of ours, Aaron, for some Ultimate Frisbee!  Turns out there’s a regular bunch of guys and gals that get together for some pickup games on Wednesday & Sunday evenings.  This is a GREAT crew of locals that we’re looking forward to getting to know.  Last week Michelle was an observer (I personally dove in headlong…and I’m pretty sure I pulled a couple quadriceps in the process), but this week we’re both in.  Pray for our bodies. Ha!
  • Thursday evening was a RIOT (figuratively speaking) at the jam night and open mic at the Bolli Bar.  Scott & Darcy, and now Michelle and I, are in pretty tight with the folks that gather regularly there.  It’s ALL about RELATIONSHIPS.  Darcy was actually absent due to her involvement in the VVCC Student’s Mission trip to Mexico, and people noticed, asking where she was!  So cool.  Mark and Susan joined us…as did a handful of folks from VVCC.  We had a ball!
  • Finally, Saturday rolled around and Matthew, Haley, Darcy, and the Mission Team from VVCC rolled back into town (an hour and a half early!).  We were grateful to have all of them home safely and Matthew was full of stories to tell!  I’m sure he’d love to fill you in on everything 😉  Despite his broken wrist and cast, he was able to contribute to the work in Mexico and had a great, life-changing week.  Thanks to all of you who were praying for him!

Yep!  Quite a week!  AND thanks to each of you that CONTINUE to pray for us and for the church plant of SummitLIFE!  If you’d like to keep up via Facebook, be sure to FRIEND SUMMITLIFE…and if you’d like to join us in praying specifically for some of our needs, JOIN OUR FACEBOOK-BASED PRAYER GROUP!  We’re anticipating putting some regular gatherings into the schedule throughout the month of August to focus specifically on praying TOGETHER, learning TOGETHER, worshiping TOGETHER, eating TOGETHER, and dreaming TOGETHER about what God has in mind for SummitLIFE.
