Not a Fan – Week Four

Summary

Contrary to popular belief, comfort is not high on Jesus’ priority list.  This is another great reason for those who don’t know God yet to not believe. Perhaps also a little bit of a surprise for those that do.

Jesus told us that he did NOT come to bring peace to the world.  In fact, he told us quite the opposite & Jesus’ fans have gotten it wrong ever since.  Fans appreciate the comfy cozy Jesus.  Followers take him at his word.

Why did God choose the cross?  Why did he choose an instrument of torture and weakness, to bring strength and life.  Have you failed in your marriage?  Grieving the loss of a loved one?  Losing a house?  Unable to pay the bills?  Depressed?  Sleeping more than you are awake?  Failing school?  When you are weak, Christ’s power can be made strong in you.  It is not magic.  It is NOT self help.  It’s surrender.  God is in the business of taking weak things and making them strong!
