VISION :: DIRECTION :: WHY ARE WE HERE :: WHERE ARE WE HEADING?
Two separate thoughts enmeshed and intertwined with one another…each relying on the other for its meaning and/or fulfillment.
VISION:: “SummitLIFE exists to welcome the Community of Sedona into Community with God, one LIFE at a time.” That’s why we are here! We’re here to spread the good news of the Kingdom of God all throughout Sedona…to welcome families, singles, couples, students, transients, artists, mystics, etc. into a right relationship with God and His creation…to welcome them into Community with God. ::VISION
DIRECTION:: How we get there has to do with our daily living. What practices can we put into place as individuals & as a community to ensure that we’re getting there? We can make sure that daily we’re living in COMMUNITY3
LIVING in COMMUNITY with GOD, asking: Have I TALKED with God today? Have I LIVED in AWARENESS of God today? Have I CELEBRATED LIFE with God today?
LIVING in COMMUNITY with ONE ANOTHER, asking: Have I LEARNED with/from other believers this week? Have I SERVED or SERVED ALONGSIDE other believers this week? Have I CELEBRATED LIFE with other believers this week?
LIVING in COMMUNITY with OTHERS [who don’t know God…YET], asking: Have I LISTENED to a not-yet-believer’s story this week? Have I SERVED or SERVED ALONGSIDE a not-yet-believer this week? Have I CELEBRATED LIFE with a not-yet-believer this week?
If any of these three C’s are out of whack or lacking, we’ll not fulfill the VISION of SummitLIFE. Take Community with God out of the picture and we’re simply “nice people” enjoying the company of one another and encouraging others to be “nice people” like us. Take Community with One Another out of the picture and we find ourselves in a “not good” situation. Take Community with Others [who don’t know God yet] out of the equation and we become a clique of self-righteous, disconnected, “religious” folk on our way to extinction, and that’s DEFINITELY NOT where we want to be heading!
Over the past several weeks, we’ve been encouraging One Another in each of these areas. As individuals and as a Community, we’ve been striving to live LIFE in community with God, One Another, and Others that don’t know God yet. There’s definitely an undercurrent…a growing momentum…a movement that’s preparing to break through, to burst forth… Plans are being put in place…it won’t be long… Where are we heading?
